Wonderful to find Adam Levy’s Naubinway, which confronts his son Daniel’s decline into mental illness and suicide, on so many end-of-year lists. Here’s a sampling of recent huzzahs:
- Star Tribune, “Twin Cities Critics Tally 2015” — Naubinway placed No. 5 on the list.
- The Current, “Top 89 of 2015: Local Songs” — “Atoms Never Die”‘ came in as the No. 6 song of the year.
- TwinCities.com, “Highlights of 2015’s Local Music Scene” — Naubinway listed prominently.
- Southern Minn Scene, “Adam Levy’s Raw, Bare Bones ‘Naubinway’ — Naubinway is named a beautiful privilege and one of the records of the year.
- Southwest Journal, “Happy Old Year” — arts writer Jim Walsh notes it as one of his favorite 2015 listens.
- Electric Fetus, “Staff Best of 2015 Lists.”
If you haven’t pick up a copy yet, just go here or here. It’s available on CD, vinyl, and as a digital download. Five percent of first-year sales go to People Incorporated’s “Artability” program, which supports the artistic expression of people with mental illness. And you can next hear Adam play these songs at the Dakota Bar & Grill on Jan. 30.
